Principal Welcome Message
My name is Matt Chisholm, the Principal of Virtual Integrated Parent Partnership K-8, otherwise known as VIP. What student wouldn't want to be a VIP?
Virtual Learning
VIP's virtual learning option is an Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) developed to meet the varying needs of families and students in our community. Any student that lives within Central Valley School District boundaries may enroll in our program. Even though we have the word “virtual” in our title, we are not your typical virtual program and provide one day (Thursday) of in-person instruction located at 1512 N. Barker. Attending this day is optional and up to the choice of the family. These Thursdays provide students the opportunity to socialize with peers, work on projects together and take field trips into the community.
All students are required to complete a schedule of virtual work that is given to them weekly by the teacher. Students are also required to meet with their teacher once a week. When the weekly work is completed is up to the family. Additionally, we offer optional opportunities for virtual support or involvement. This ranges from small group live Zoom instruction by their teacher to whole class Zoom meetings and social activities. Your child’s teacher will meet with you to build an individualized schedule. Families appreciate the flexibility of the virtual scheduling.
The staff are high quality teachers who recognize that all students do not learn the same. We pride ourselves on being different than your normal brick and mortar school. We value partnering with parents to create an educational experience that meets the needs of the child and family. We make VIRTUAL a REALITY!
Parent Partnership
VIP's parent partnership program is an Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) that services families and students in grades K-8 who would like to learn at home. We are truly a small environment for students to receive an education that is warm, positive, and in partnership with the family. Each family is paired with a high quality teacher, who works with families in developing and navigating a personalized learning plan. Education at VIP is truly a partnership with our parents. We view the parent as a key contributor to their child’s education. We provide the resources for this education to take place. Our teachers also provide classes for the students to attend, if further support is needed. We encourage families to volunteer and participate in our family-facilitated workshops and our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). It is our goal to know the individual needs of each and every child and develop a true parent partnership.
I feel fortunate to be the VIP Principal for many reasons: getting to know students and families, providing alternative learning opportunities for students that is personalized and flexible and getting to work with excellent teachers.
Please feel free to reach out and learn more about our VIP School by calling 509-558-5700 or emailing me with any questions at [email protected]. I look forward to meeting you!
